Study of Baroque Plans and Sections

Various studies of Plans and Sections of Baroque buildings were made to understand in detail aspects like-
1. Hierarchy
2. Public, Semi-private, Private spaces
3. Buffer and Altar spaces
4. Heights and their relative spaces
5. Volumes

These studies highlighted and undermined the main factors of Baroque, followed later on in the the design, which are-
  • The use of curves at all planar and sectional levels.
  • The circulation of space from one to another, with buffer spaces forming on either sides.
  • The flow of curves in sections, starting from the bottom level and formulating into domes at the above levels.
