Component


New Configuration were tried out which had 4 aisles, the component was given varying heights on the aisles to form different volumes within them.
Another addition was made to the component which would cover the central aisle.

Moving from Symmetry to Asymmetry



The previous attempts were turning out to be monotonous and very much on the lines of symmetry, same as Baroque.
Further on, new methods are being devised now to move out from the symmetrical pattern of spaces to a more asymmetrical one, which carves out new spaces.
The latest configuration has been deployed on to the site keeping in mind the topographical situation of the site  and other forces.

Site, Program and Interior Spaces




The site has a public plaza at the front and the street which leads up to the site. The other end houses the sculpture garden and small temporary exhibits.
The central space holds the ramp, which becomes the main exhibit space. The Sectional views above show that how the interior ramp work in the building.
The component is populated at either ends forming separate aisles for smaller activities inside the building.

Transformation from Structure to Surface


Structural members are added, which start from the ground and end up into surfaces joining the four arch component.
The addition is made at the splines of the older component from where these members go down to form an enclosed space within.

Exploration of newer Configurations



Newer configurations are tried keeping in mind the studies derived from earlier baroque plans, wherein there is a central altar space and separate buffer activities happening on either side.
The other thing tried out was that how the component could start from a flat plane, then add volume and end up as a flat plane again.
Ramps were devised in one of the options which can have exhibition galleries and installations and forms a singular central space.

The above examples show population of the component in accordance to the spaces in the Baroque plans.
The graphical composition of the spaces have been reduces to minimal splines on which the components have been populated. The curves are given varying heights at certain points instead of being just flat planar curves.
This adds volume to the splines and the population of the component forms space instead of being just planar.

Conceptual Layout of Component



The component was populated in ways derived from the study of baroque plans. In the above example, the component is populated with a central space and buffer spaces adding up on either side.
The first example shows that how the component can form a surface and rotate on its central axis's to form either a singular surface or form a surface with multiple vaults.

Component in GC




The Component was further evolved from the previous studies to form a simple four arched (vaults) component, capable of movement and rotation along its two axis in the center, as shown.
It had four openings on its surface along iso-curves on the surface, which stretches and minimizes according to the component's population.

Conceptual Studies





A Component was derived from the first studies of the dome, plans and sections. Configurations were then tried out with paper models for its population on different lines and splines.
The cut-outs in the paper model are also configured separately in each option.
At times they form structure and touch ground, whereas in others they add more of an aesthetic value to the component.
